01 Day: Arrival Cochin
Assistance on arrival at Cochin airport, and transfer to the hotel. After relaxation, take a sightseeing tour of the city visiting Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace), Jewish Synagogue & Fort Cochin area from here one can see the Chinese fishing nets. Later the day is free for leisure, later in the evening enjoy Kathakali dance presentation. Overnight in Cochin.
02 Day: Cochin – Munnar (130 kms/ 3 hrs)
Morning after breakfast checkout and drive to Munnar, on arrival transfer to the hotel, Munnar is located at the Idukki district of Kerala State in India. There are about 30 tea plantations in and around Munnar. The Munnar hills are covered by tea plants, which make Periyar the feeling of seeing a wide green carpet. After relaxation visit at Eravikulam National Park (15 km from Munnar,) The Nilgiri Tahr can be observed at close quarters here. This park is established to protect the Nilgiri Tahr (Nilgiri Ibex). In the evening enjoy the tea plantation and Munnar Lake site. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
03 Day: Munnar
After breakfast you can opt to visit to Mattupetty; famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. Visitors are allowed into three of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm, followed by visit to Pothamedu which offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. Later visit at Devikulam (7 km from Munnar), Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is a good picnic spot. The lake is also ideal for trout fishing. Return to the hotel for overnight stay at Munnar.
04 Day: Munnar – Periyar (110 kms / 3 hrs)
After breakfast checkout & drive to Periyar through lush green Tea & Cardamom plantations. On arrival transfer to hotel. Relax for some time, late afternoon we set out to discover the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, animals found here include elephant, sambar, gaur and wild boars and birds like ibis and grey heron. The visit is done in a boat to view animals with a bit of extra luck we may be able to see the rare tiger as well. Return to the hotel, evening visit the Spice Market, overnight in Periyar.
05 Day: Periyar – Kumarakom (110 kms / 3 hrs)
Morning after breakfast checkout and drive to Kumarakom – the backwater countryside, located between the palm-fringed backwaters on the west and the Western Ghats to the east. Also called the Rome of the East, the city is renowned for its churches and houses built in the colonial style. Kottayam (Kumarakom) shot into limelight when it was declared the first fully literate municipal town of India. Kumarakom is also home to many migratory birds which come as far from Siberia. On arrival transfer to the hotel. Day is free to relax and enjoy the surrounding, overnight in Kumarakom.
06 Day: Kumarakom – Alleppey (Overnight Houseboat Cruise – Kettuvellam)
After breakfast checkout & drive to board the houseboat cruise for Alleppey at 1200 hrs from Kumarakom for an overnight journey, cruise to Alleppey journey will take us through the tropical countryside enchanting backwaters of Alleppey to Palm fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expanse of paddy fields and the neat tiny hamlets, typical villages and regattas (boats snakes) for which Kerala is very famous.
07 Day: Alleppey – Kovalam (180 kms/ 4 hrs)
After breakfast checkout and drive to Kovalam, on arrival transfer to beach resorts, rest of the day free to relax at the beach resort. Overnight at the resort.
08 Day: Kovalam – Kanyakumari – Kovalam
After breakfast take a sight seeing tour of Trivandrum City in the morning covering the Padamanbhaswamy Temple & Palace, Chaitra Art Gallery and Napier Museum. After lunch take an excursion tour to Cape Camorin (Kanya Kumari) – 84 kms, Kanyakumari the south-most tip of India where the three seas Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal meet. Visit Vivekananda Rock and Kumari Amman Temple, enjoy Sunset over the Indian Ocean and drive back to Kovalam. Enjoy Kathakali dance performance before you dine. Overnight at the beach resort.
09 Day: Kovalam – Cochin – Mumbai/ Delhi (By Air)
After breakfast checkout and drive to Cochin domestic airport to board the scheduled flight for Mumbai/ Delhi. On departure to concludes with happy memories. |
